Outcomes of thrombectomy in transferred patients with ischemic stroke in the late window: a subanalysis from the DEFUSE 3 trial

With the publication of late window papers management in stroke, a new horizon of treatment has opened for a number of patients with this disease. Endovascular treatment (EVT) is still limited in its availability and a large number of patients starts their recanalization management in primary stroke centers not equipped with mechanical thrombectomy.

We are living a transitional era where there is very strong evidence that EVT is superior to other therapies for large vessel occlusion strokes, but an implementation of the required EVT still limited and their implementation will take time mainly for human resources limitations and costs in some places.
