Supporting operator choice in Stroke treatment: the ASSIST Registry compares 3 different techniques

Join in the conversation between Prof. Markus Möhlenbruch and Dr Paul Bhogal at LINNC Paris 2022 as they consider the latest data from the ASSIST “real-world” Registry.

Comparing patients treated with large artery occlusions in the anterior circulation using any one of the 3 pre-defined techniques: stent retriever classic, stent retriever in combination with aspiration or direct aspiration, this Registry aimed to answer the question: Which one was most efficacious?

With 71 centers and over 1500 patients reviewed from North America, Europe and Asia, the ASSIST Registry data provided some surprising initial primary outcomes with the stent retriever classic technique showing a significantly higher first pass eTICI 3 results compared to the stent retriever in combination or direct aspiration techniques.  How do we interpret that and what does this imply in terms of the first pass effect or early reperfusion?
