Beyond sizing: can simulation help predict aneurysm treatment outcomes?

Recorded during LINNC Paris 2026 , this symposium explores the role of simulation in treatment planning through two challenging clinical cases presented by Sandor Nardai, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurointervention at Semmelweis University in Budapest (Hungary).

The first case involves a basilar tip aneurysm in a patient with severe renal insufficiency, highlighting how simulation can help assess different treatment scenarios, optimize device sizing and coil selection, and estimate the volume embolization ratio (VER).

A second case, involving extensive vascular disease, illustrates how simulation supported pCONUS device upsizing and coil selection to achieve durable aneurysm neck coverage.

The discussion also explores a key question in endovascular aneurysm treatment: can simulation help predict long-term aneurysm occlusion and reduce the risk of recanalization?

By combining pre-procedural planning, patient-specific anatomy and simulation, these cases illustrate the potential of increasingly personalized approaches to complex aneurysm treatment.
