Discover the case of this 52-year-old man who experienced sudden aphasia and was originally admitted with a diagnosis of thromboembolic complications. He was treated with IV thrombolysis. The patient was discharged from the hospital but returned the next day with right hemiplegia and a NIHSS score of 11.
Imaging later revealed a large hematoma, which grew between day 6 and day 16, with visible bleeding on one side and significant oedema. Further examination identified a very distal, small, dissecting aneurysm of the M4 segment.
This patient was treated with a flow diverter, preserving the parent artery and occluding the aneurysm.
