Recanalization of a left MCA occlusion in a centenarian patient with the BADASS technique

Last update on November 22, 2024

Discover the case of this centenarian with a history of atrial fibrillation, on anticoagulant treatment, and hypertension. This old man, still very independent at home and a pétanque player, was found by a neighbor with right hemiplegia, aphasia, and an NIHSS of 15.

The imaging showed a clot and left MCA occlusion. The patient underwent rapid mechanical thrombectomy using the BADDASS technique, which combines a balloon-guided catheter with a distal aspiration catheter and stent retriever.
