Faced with an asymptomatic 45-year-old woman who presents with a basilar tip aneurysm – How would you treat…or would you treat at all?
Join Prof. Jacques Moret in this pre-recorded live case originally seen at LINNC Seminar Asia 2018 . Here, the Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device is used to treat a small, “bizarrely” shaped aneurysm which is seen to be perpendicular to the axis of the basilar, with two “daughter sacs”. Prof. Moret shows us the advanced imaging which allows us to fully understand the precise anatomy involved, visualizing the arterial supply and the nature of the perforators. We examine the risks involved in treating this aneurysm such as perforation, or possible complications due to occlusions.
We see Prof. Moret’s step-by-step logic as he chooses his tools and the optimal approach from the options available. From a toolset that includes flow diverters, braided stents or coils, we learn why he chooses the WEB device. Discover the technique he then employs from pre-medicating with dual antiplatelet drugs to the role that speed of delivery plays in the placement of the WEB device itself. Finally, learn why the actual confirmation of the success of the treatment is only fully seen at later follow-up using dual Vaso-CT.
