Low NIHSS thrombectomy: benefit risk balance of GA

Stroke Recorded Case in live conditions - Bicêtre University Hospital, Paris, France

Last update on June 5, 2024

At LINNC Paris 2024, Laurent Spelle presents a case of a 47-year-old man who experienced a wake-up stroke with mild aphasia. Initial treatment with Alteplase did not improve his condition, prompting a second dose and mechanical thrombectomy due to persistent symptoms and imaging findings. Despite delays in transfer, where his NIHSS worsened upon arrival, he underwent successful thrombectomy under conscious sedation for a distal left M3 occlusion.

Watch the video to see the challenges of managing an awake, moving patient during the procedure.
