When the Flow Diverter bites the coil: A Tale of Premature coil

Author: AHUJA Chirag Kamal

Dive into the complex case of a 64-year-old female who experienced 3 months of diminished vision in her left eye, along with double vision when gazing laterally. DSA uncovered a giant right supraclinoid ICA aneurysm. During the procedure, the approach involved aneurysm coiling with stent deployment. However, an unexpected twist occurred as the flow diverter was fully deployed while the coil remained partially deployed within the aneurysm. Subsequent coiling was initiated, but during deployment, the coil prematurely detached, leading to a loss of control over the coil. Multiple stent retriever attempts were made in response to this challenging situation. Watch now to learn more!
