First use of LVIS Evo stent in England
Last update on November 7, 2019
Check out the first use of LVIS Evo stent in England by Doctor Levansri Makalanda from London.
Case
A 42-year-old female patient presented with subarachnoid haemorrhage with a partially thrombosed left middle cerebral artery aneurysm.
This was treated with a novel technique we call Flow-T stenting. Details can be found here:
https://doi.org/10.1177%2F1591019919870618
A twin aneurysm was noted on her right middle cerebral artery. This was electively treated with stent-assisted coil embolization.
The patient was already on daily aspirin and prasugrel prior to the elective procedure.
Under general anaesthesia a radial arteriotomy was performed and a 6F Glidesheath inserted.
6F Benchmark placed in right cavernous carotid
Headway 17 jailed into aneurysm. The neck was crossed with 4x11 Sceptre XC .
Given the morphology of the aneurysm, balloon-assisted coiling may have been required and a Sceptre XC was therefore used to deploy the stent.
The Evo stent was easily visualised and repositioned as required across the neck.
The DFT technology allowed good visualisation of the stent compression across the neck to aid flow diversion.
There was no evidence of coil protrusion through the Evo.
The patient woke normally and was discharged 14 hours later.
Conclusion: Excellent visualisation and easy deployment of the Evo stent with some flow diversion properties noted on the final angiogram.
