New INR clinical frontiers: The future inside the vessel

Last update on July 2, 2025

In this interview conducted by Daniel Vela-Duarte, Alejandro Berenstein explains how articulating catheter technology, which navigates without guidewires and moves like an "elephant’s trunk", is revolutionizing access and precision in neurointervention. This innovation transforms endovascular procedures into true endovascular surgery, enabling robotic assistance, intracranial suturing, and steerable delivery of embolic agents. He highlights promising developments in radioactive liquid embolics and targeted neurointerventional oncology, aiming to treat glioblastomas and AVMs with intravascular radiosurgery.

Prof Berenstein encourages the new generation to embrace these advances, stressing that imagination is the only limit to progress.
