Take a look at this case from Italo Linfante of a young man presenting with onset headaches, the non-invasive imaging showing an 8 mm irregularly-shaped aneurysm.
The patient is a young man with new onset headaches. On non-invasive imaging as part of the headache evaluation, he was found to have a 8 mm irregularly-shaped, anterior pointing left internal carotid artery (ICA) aneurysm with a posterior pointing daughter sac. Images also revealed a 4-5 mm, wide base paraclinoid (paraophtalmic) left ICA aneurysm with the ophthalmic artery originating from the anterior section of the sac.
The left ICA terminus aneurysm was secured by balloon-assisted coil embolization. One week later, the left ICA paraclinoid aneurysm was secured by placement of a Pipeline Embolization Device.
The patient did very well, he was discharged home with a normal neurological examination after both procedures.
