First European experience with the AXS Catalyst 7 Distal Access Catheter
Last update on October 22, 2021
A 71-year old patient presented to Dr. Charlotte Ruthner of Klinikum Rechts der Isar in Munich, Germany with an acute ischemic stroke secondary to a distal left M1 occlusion extending to the proximal M2. Patient anatomy included a tortuous cervical ICA and a Type III cavernous ICA. Dr. Ruthner used a combination technique with the AXS Catalyst 7 Distal Access Catheter, FlowGate2 Balloon Guide Catheter, AXS Universal Aspiration Set, and a stent retriever to achieve TICI 3 reperfusion on the first pass. This marks the first European human use of the Stryker AXS Catalyst 7 Distal Access Catheter, which received CE Mark on September 6. Find out more by visiting Stryker’s booth at
