What are the two major advances in the INR field in the last few years?
At the recent LINNC Paris 2012, Prof. BIONDI offers a large view on the current state and future of interventional neuroradiology. Speaking about the recent evolution in stroke treatment she focuses on advances in tools and techniques, with improved microcatheters offering increasing ease of access to more distal vessels as well as the treatment of more complex situations. Aspiration techniques can also be performed more distally, all of which she believes will have an important impact on health policy and strategies in the coming years.
Aneurysm treatment is discussed, with more recent WEB and Contour devices offering possible alternatives to flow diversion or clipping.
Dual antiplatelet therapies – DAPT – are touched on as well, with the discussion of her approach to DAPT after coiling or flow diversion.
Change is coming to how we approach these pathologies…
