Strengthening the foundations of INR Practice: Day 2 of the LINNC Seminar 2024 - Americas Edition!

Last update on February 22, 2024

Here in Miami for the second day of the Live Interventional Neuroradiology & Neurosurgery Course (LINNC) Seminar 2024 – Americas Edition we continued to build on the momentum of the opening day, offering a plethora of enriching sessions and discussions that captivated the audience.

The day commenced with the presentation of recorded cases from St Michaels’ Hospital, Toronto, Canada. Prof. Vitor Mendes Pereira presented his experience in venous related pulsatile tinnitus management.

He led us through a very complete and complex technical description of venous stenting, answering many questions from the faculty. All this information will prove to be very helpful for the audience members who wish to incorporate in their practice this recent and very efficient technique to relieve patients of their symptoms.

As is customary during LINNC seminars, Professors Laurent Spelle and Jacques Moret presented more recorded cases on this second day – over twenty in all – and each one of great pedagogical value.

The special topic of the day was middle meningeal embolization (MMA) for chronic subdural hematoma, following the very recent publication of positive randomized control trials. Dr Jason Davies presented the EMBOLISE trial results, the key finding being that there was a 3-fold reduction in recurrence that required surgical re-drainage after MMA embolization with Onyx.

Dr Adam Arthur then presented the results of the STEM trial, showing failure rates dropping from 39% to 15% by adding Squid MMA embolization to standard management.

In the afternoon, Dr Jildaz Caroff presented more Stroke cases leading once again to heated and illuminating debates on the various strategies available for providing optimal care to these patients that we are treating every day in our practices.

Throughout this second day the level of attention, participation and engagement on the part of the attendees was notably high, probably due in part to the kind and friendly atmosphere as well as the quality of the exchanges. Attendees and faculty actively participated, posing challenging questions and sharing their experiences, further enriching the learning environment.

Among the many excellent cases presented by the attendees themselves over these 2 days, Dr Frank Solis (Peru) won the prize for best paper and a grant to attend the next LINNC in Paris in June!

The day concluded with reflections from our Course Directors, who summarized the key take away messages, urging attendees to apply the knowledge and connections gained to advance their practice and further contribute to the field.

See you – and many from the INR community worldwide – in Paris in from the 3rd to the 5th of June in this Olympic Year for another edition of LINNC Paris 2024 Course , a series of educational sessions based on live clinical cases covering a wide variety of topics. LINNC Paris 2024 Course offers something for the entire INR community, helping improve our daily practice so that, together, we can offer the best possible treatments available for our patients today.
