SAC for left ACA(A1)Aneurysm

Live Case transmission From Huashan Hospital, Shanghai, China

Last update on June 2, 2026

Presented during LINNC Paris 2026 by Dr. Yuxiang Gu and team, this live case demonstrates stent-assisted coiling (SAC) for a left anterior cerebral artery (ACA) A1 segment aneurysm.

Clinical Presentation & Strategic Decision-Making

The session features a 77-year-old female presenting with a 2-year history of dizziness, whose 3.5×3 mm aneurysm was detected during further diagnostic evaluation. The patient's medical history is notable for diabetes mellitus, with no hypertension or hyperlipidemia, and her physical examination showed no focal neurological deficits. To secure stable exclusion of this A1 segment lesion while preserving the patency of the parent vessel, the team opts for a stent-assisted coiling strategy.

Key technical highlights

  • Access & navigation: Establishing secure distal support using a SOLAR 6F long sheath combined with a 6F X-TRACT Distal Access Catheter (DAC).
  • Microcatheter & wire setup: Navigating the cerebral vasculature using a 0.014/0.018 Starship microwire to precisely position a Luna microcatheter.
  • Stent-assisted coiling: Deploying a Falco assist stent across the aneurysm neck to provide scaffolding support for the subsequent coil embolization of the sac.
