Curious about what happened during the second day of the 2022 edition of the LINNC Seminar Asia Edition?
Here’s a glimpse now…
Today we had the chance to learn and appreciate case presentations from physicians representing multiple centers from across all of Asia. Dr Vikas BHATIA (India) started with a vein of Galen malformation. This led to technical discussions on optimal strategies. Among others, Dr Thanit NANTHANASUB (Thailand) presented a dural AV fistula at the level of the foramen magnum, then Dr Tran Chi CUONG (Vietnam) showed us a deep located AVM revealed by an hematoma which was secondary to a rare spontaneous thrombosis of the venous outflow.
Dr Anchalee CHUROJANA (Thailand), and Dr Michihiro TANAKA (Japan) discussing staged versus single session embolization for VGAM treatments.
Imaging is the at the core of our specialty, and today we had the honor of assisting in a lecture from the WFITN president Dr TANAKA on advanced cone beam CT imaging, that left Prof. SPELLE very impressed.
The quality of the trans-medullary venous anastomoses cone-beam CT pictures shared by Dr TANAKA astonished the audience.
Dr Joanna Pearly TI (Singapore), presenting her experience with the Solitaire X stent retriever.
Of course, the essence of the LINNC seminars are the recorded cases brought together by Professors SPELLE and MORET. Today they presented a great selection of treatments covering the entire field of INR. With around ten different ones presented to the audience today, here is a selection.
In the first case, the team was dealing with a centennial acute ischemic patient. Dr SPELLE emphasized the incredible path thrombectomy has followed, from very select cases less than 10 years ago to now offering treatment to 100+ patients.
Then we discussed the specificities and challenges associated with the treatment of WEB recurrences. The course directors mentioned a manuscript recently published by the Bicêtre team on this subject
The last cases were focused on brain AVM embolizations, with discussions ending on the topic of how to define a cured AVM and the risks of unexpected recurrences.
WEB sizing was at the heart of many discussions today. Professors and faculty insisted on
the need of oversizing the device to prevent poor long-term results
Faculty members of the 2022 edition of the LINNC Seminar Asia Edition
Dr Youngjin KIM (Korea), was awarded best case presentation by the faculty members for his management of a complex ruptured proximal and growing mycotic aneurysm.
So we come to the end of the LINNC Asia 2022 seminar with the hope that we will be seeing you again soon –
And why not in France, June 5-7 2023 for the next LINNC Paris?
